What You Will Do

The Business Development Manager is a pivotal role that reports directly to the Territory Sales Director Iberia and Italy, with a strong dotted line to the National Sales Manager in Italy. Based in Italy, you will collaborate closely with the local Fire Suppression team to achieve business objectives by driving demand from the specification stage of relevant projects.

Your primary objective will be to create market demand and build strategic customer relationships by identifying new opportunities, defining vertical markets, and developing tailored solutions for high-profile customers such as end users, consultants, contractors, and A&E firms. You will focus on promoting the adoption of Fire Suppression products across the Italian market by engaging with stakeholders at all levels and fostering long-term partnerships.

As part of your activities, you will expand brand presence and awareness within the territory by delivering high-quality technical presentations, seminars, and demonstrations to consultants, developers, and end users. You will recommend viable solutions for project-specific requirements, leveraging your strong technical expertise to address customer challenges effectively.

This role offers a dynamic and collaborative environment where you can drive demand creation, develop new business opportunities, and contribute to achieving Johnson Controls’ strategic objectives.

Key Objectives

The key objectives of this role are to drive demand creation and business development activities for Fire Suppression products in Italy. You will focus on developing and executing strategies to generate market demand during the specification stage of projects and across vertical markets. By identifying and pursuing new opportunities, you will expand Johnson Controls’ market share while building strong, long-term relationships with high-profile customers such as end users, consultants, contractors, and A&E firms. Additionally, you will enhance brand awareness through technical seminars, product demonstrations, and strategic marketing initiatives, while proposing innovative, technically sound solutions that address customer needs and align with Johnson Controls’ product strategies.

How You Will Do It

As a Business Development Manager, you will:

  • Utilize your technical expertise in Fire Suppression systems to support consultants, developers, and end users in designing and specifying solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Training, Product Management, and Technical Support, to ensure proposals align with customer needs and company strategies.
  • Develop and deploy design, technical, and marketing tools to educate customers on existing and new products.
  • Actively prospect for new business opportunities and identify decision-makers and stakeholders within target organizations.
  • Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to effectively communicate product value and secure specifications.
  • Work independently to drive territory growth while collaborating with internal teams to achieve collective goals.

What We Are Looking For

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of sales or business development experience in Fire Suppression products.
  • Proven expertise in fire suppression system design and strong technical knowledge of leading Fire Suppression brands.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated success in securing product specifications from end users, consultants, and installers.
  • Experience in strategic planning, marketing, and market research to identify new opportunities and vertical markets.
  • Advanced prospecting skills with the ability to identify key stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • A proactive, self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Flexible and willing to travel across Italy.
  • A team-player mindset with unquestionable integrity and ethics.
  • A results-driven, innovative problem solver with a "can-do" attitude.
