In this key role, you will be responsible for defining and driving the strategic direction of external warehouse operations in alignment with the site’s business plan and global supply chain priorities.
Job Objectives:
- Lead the Sesto Warehouse Governance meetings in collaboration with local senior leadership.
- Define and implement strategies for external warehouses aligned with the Sesto site mission and Business Plan/Strategic Plan inputs.
- Act as liaison between Global Logistics, Global Supply Chain, and the Sesto manufacturing site to ensure seamless communication.
- Lead cross-functional teams and projects to optimize warehouse occupancy across the network.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships with third-party logistics providers to improve operational efficiency.
- Promote and lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives in the Supply Chain area, fostering innovation.
- In collaboration with the local material manager, conduct regular reviews and metric analysis to identify material shortages, monitor order status, and evaluate scrap, rework, or material rejection.
- Maintain key MRP modifiers and parameters within SAP Master Data / APO to support accurate planning.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead transformational projects across Supply Chain functions, including Supply Planning, logistics, distribution, and warehousing, to modernize processes and increase efficiency.
- Project manage long-term strategies for external warehouses (e.g., construction of new sites, consolidation, integration of warehouse management systems, customs-related projects).
- Analyze the medium to long-term manufacturing plan and help find strategies to overcome potential logistics-related issues that impact delivery commitments (i.e., future occupancy constraints).
- Develop plans to optimize external warehousing operations, balancing inbound/outbound flows and site capacity based on E2E (End-to-End) Supply Chain outputs.
- Support the material and transformation lead in implementing strategies to maintain optimum inventory levels, ensuring on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements.
- Act as the Sesto point of contact with Global Supply Chain for inventory rebalancing and network collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and procedures in all interactions with third-party logistics providers.
- Manage Lilly Sesto's relationship with Global Supply Chain to help rebalance stocks across the network Affiliates.
- Collect purchase orders and purchase requisitions to order materials, goods, and supplies at the right time and in the right quantities.
- Analyze inventory reports to identify slow-moving items, overstocked items, and obsolete inventory. Monitor inventory levels, accuracy, segregation, and rotation.
- Investigate negative inventory, identify root cause, and coordinate inventory adjustments with the Warehouse department.
- Understand the lead times for parts and their effects on Material Planning, including the variation of logistics lead time to ensure on-time supply.
- Assist in managing transportation logistics for all incoming components, helping to balance the occupation load between internal and external warehouses.
- Manage relationship with the Network to help rebalance stocks and solve criticalities with the Affiliates.
- Coordinate and monitor returns to global vendors and the disposal of raw materials where required.
- Act on deviations by following the escalation process. Can be Lead Investigator for Change and Deviations.
- Contribute to the annual Business Plan by providing relevant material and inventory-related forecasts, scrap analysis, and cost definition inputs.
Basic Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in a scientific field.
- Fluent in both English and Italian.
- Proficient knowledge of SAP R/3, APO, Excel, Trackwise.
- APICS certification is considered a plus.
- Solid foundational understanding of Supply Chain principles and best practices.
- Experience in Warehouse Management.
