Job Summary
We are looking for a final year student in Food Safety and Food Risk Management interested in a master’s thesis project related to the study of the interaction between food product and polymers used for Packaging Equipment filling line components.
The aim is to map critical ingredients and to develop a test method able to accelerate interaction conditions.
You will be enrolled in an internship program within our Development and Technology department reporting to the manager of Materials Engineering and will be part of a team expert on Materials applied sciences such as metal corrosions, tribology but also on advance manufacturing technologies.
This is 6 months paid internship, and we are looking for a candidate who is an active University student and eligible to work for the entire duration of the internship.
What you will do
As food product interaction with equipment materials intern:
- You will be part of R&D team focused on improving the performance and the reliability of components in direct contact with food through the selection of the right material resistant to chemical environment and mechanical stresses.
- You will elaborate data on materials and grades currently used in filling lines and you will drive a cross functional risk assessment against different products.
- You will develop an advanced laboratory test method to replicate materials contact with food under several conditions with the purpose of accelerating possible degradation phenomena and have a structured and reliable methodology to be used for future assessment:
- You will validate the method thought physical testing. The test will be run also on new alternative materials compliant with chemical regulations.
- The internship is intended to support your master thesis project and is tailored to student with a background in Food Risk Management and an interest in Materials Engineering.
We believe you have
- Current enrolment in a Master’s degree program in Food Risk Management (or similar), in your final year.
- Good knowledge on food product chemistry and interaction with materials.
- Good knowledge on wine chemistry and formulations.
- Experience with laboratory testing of food products and materials characterization analysis.
- Basic understanding of materials and surface engineering.
