Legal Counsel - Italy

About the opportunity

We are looking for a talented Legal Counsel for Italy to strengthen our Italian Legal Team advising the N26 group and Italian branch on all legal aspects of N26 business in Italy, from banking regulation to customer protection, litigation and banking operations. 
Together with the Italian Team based in Milan and our Legal Team located across our various jurisdictions and in close coordination with your manager and the senior management of the N26 Italian branch, you will develop pragmatic solutions with a view to expand N26 business in Italy in compliance with EU and Italian regulations.

In this role, you will:

• Support the in-house legal team and management with a wide range of legal matters related to N26 business and operations in Italy and have the exciting opportunity to gain experience in a fast-growing company.

• You’ll join the Legal Team in Italy and advise in the areas of banking and financial law, general civil and contract law, litigation, data privacy law and consumer law, both under Italian and EU law.

• You’ll support a variety of legal matters from answering internal legal questions or drawing up assessments and recommendations to preparing communications to external parties, authorities and stakeholders. 

• You’ll support in structuring and maintaining the legal Know How as well as keeping contractual documentation up to date for Italy.  

• You’ll review complex complaints cases and support in the handling of litigation cases before the Italian courts. 

• You’ll participate in the preparation and review of contracts.

• After a reasonable onboarding period you will work independently on the projects assigned to you which may include for instance a product segment or area of law.  

What you need to be successful:

• You are thrilled with the idea of ​​working in Europe's first mobile bank with a European full banking license while reinventing banking for today’s digital world. 

• You have completed your legal studies in Italy (Laurea Magistrale in Giurisprudenza) as well as the Italian bar examination. International experiences (e.g. LL.M. or working experience) are a plus.

• You have already gained a first successful professional experience in a reputable law firm or legal department at a company. 

• Ideally, you have acquired work experience in a bank, financial intermediary, retail or tech company.

• You are an Italian native speaker and speak English fluently (working language is English); you have outstanding writing skills in both Italian and English languages. 

• You are hands-on and eager to tackle new topics while demonstrating a quick grasp and experience in conceptual project work. 

• You will be an ideal addition to the team and therefore have very good interpersonal skills, pragmatic thinking and working, have a certain zest for action in you.

• You are a team player as well as you can work with a high degree of autonomy.

• You bring along entrepreneurial vision, prudence  in challenging markets and high commitment and initiative.
