About the position
Dometic is a global market leader in the mobile living industry. Millions of people around the world use Dometic products in outdoor, residential, and professional applications. We are on a growth journey – now looking for a Product Development Manager for supporting our Mobile Power Solution sub-segment.
The Product Development Manager will play a crucial role in managing the development teams that develops our products. The Product Development Manager is responsible to make sure we have the right competence and team to develop the Mobile Power Solution product portfolio to achieve our business goals.
This role will be responsible for acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan.
Your main responsibilities
The core responsibility is to drive the development and delivery of a highly relevant, innovative and profitable product portfolio that positions Dometic as a leading supplier of Mobile Power Solutions with target end-user markets.
·Be accountable that the development teams develop products that are safe, with the needed quality and performance.
·Accountable that the PD entity follows Dometic’s and MPS development processes.
·Drive Competence development in the team disciplines (System engineering, HW, FW, SW, Mechanics, Validation and Test, Project Management)
·Drive the continuous development process development to increase efficiency and quality developing new products.
·Drive the budget process for the PD team and align with PM team to understand what is expected.
·Drive strategic organizational development projects to increase efficiency, control and quality.
·Proactively understand and keep an updated plan of the needed resource needs for at least the following 12 months.
·Develop partnerships with consultant companies to be prepared of the need of temporary resources.
·Coordinate input to project effort estimations and business cases.
·Be the spokesperson for the PD entity in Product Councils and Project Request meetings to answer when and if a project can be started. Present consequences based on priorities in the roadmap.
·Be accountable for KPIs for the PD centre and present these on monthly meetings.
·Work with the development and sourcing teams within the Dometic Product Development / Improvement Projects (DPDP and DPIP) to ensure that new Mobile Power Solutions product developments and / or sourcing activities meet the agreed launch timing, technical, functional, design and packaging requirements as well as target costs.
·Complete all key Head of PD deliverables required for the DPDP, DPIP, DPLP projects within the Mobile Power Solutions portfolio.
·Adhere to agreed processes and provide input and feedback on continuous improvements to the processes to drive increased productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency.
·Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
·Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
·Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
·Communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
·Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
·Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
·Be part of a project post-mortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
·Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
·Be part of estimation of resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
·Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
·Proactively make sure product cost is as low as possible still meeting requirements and stated performance.

A suitable background would be the following in terms of qualifications and experiences:
·A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience as Product Development or R&D Manager or related capacity.
·Strong experience of Embedded systems, power electronics and battery technologies
·Proven experience from managing staff in an international environment, and in agile management methods and ways-of-working.
·Experience of working in a matrix organization
·Proficient in project planning tools and critical path management.
·Excellent documentation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
·Bachelors’ Degree – Electronics or Electrical Engineering, Marketing, Commerce or Diploma/ Cert IV in similar subjects
·Possess a technical aptitude and understanding of mobile power systems.
·Possess a passport and be prepared to travel as required by the role.
·Possess a current Drivers Licence.
