We are looking for a Coordination of Engine Mechanical Development and Assembly to join our headquarters at Sant’Agata Bolognese (BO), reporting hierarchically reports to the Head of Powertrain Design, Simulation & Development.
You will be responsible for the engine development in terms of Design Validation Plan (DVP) definition and engine functionality. Additionally, you will oversee the prototype engine build.
You will be co-responsible for the following processes:
- Development and execution of detailed engine test planning including methodology development and documentation/specification writing.
- Responsible for engine Design Validation Plan sign off (including functional testing, mechanical development, reliability).
- Responsible to define the engine setups consistently with the engine Design Validation Plan and the PEP Milestones.
- Coordinator for the engine build shop activities consistently with the engine Design Validation Plan and the PEP Milestones.
- Responsible for the engine reliability sign off (dyno).
- Interface with systems engineers and build shops to discuss hardware requirements and specifications to support the testing requirements.
- Responsible for the completion of mechanical development, characterization and proof of concept testing throughout program stages.
- Cooperating jointly with test bed facilities coordinator ensure that the tests are complete to the required specification in terms of instrumentation requirements, test cycles, stabilization criteria etc. and to ensure that data quality is adequate to support correct technical conclusions.
- Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of powertrain issues identified during various rig, dyno and vehicle testing
- Report preparation and presentation to support knowledge distribution.
- Work alongside calibration and vehicle engineers to assess impact of the calibration on the durability.
- The work will cover mechanical, functional testing, reliability.
- Analysis after engine return from the field for problems occurred.
- Cooperating with SET leaders and KEFA about modifications and TOP/DOWN requests.
- Cooperating with all the other OU involved in development process (Purchasing, Quality, Production, Finance and Logistics);
- Ensuring the analysis implementation by collaborating with VW/Audi colleagues for components performed as VW Group platform.
- Reporting and presenting to the Head of Powertrain Design and to the Head of Powertrain.
About you
- Engineering degree
- At least 5 years of experience in Engine base
- Background in automotive companies
- Fully proficient in English, German as a plus but not mandatory
- A high level of technical knowledge of high-performance engine
- Troubleshooting capability

- Hybrid technologies and functionality
- Engine engineering knowledge
- Experienced in OEM or tier one component analysis
- Proficient use of Matlab would be a bonus
