Inside the Ground Segment and Systems Engineering department in Rome, we are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer.
About the job:
As a member of the Launcher Control Bench Engineering team, you will be engaged in the design and development of ground segment monitoring and control systems for launch vehicles. You will collaborate within international, multidisciplinary teams using an ECSS-compliant methodology for the design, development, and validation of systems.
The selected candidate will be in charge of the following activities:
- Design low-voltage power distribution and signal interfacing circuits for integration with PLC-based control systems.
- Select electrical and electronic components to ensure compliance with technical specifications and system requirements.
- Develop wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation to support manufacturing, assembly, and validation activities.
- Configure and design PLC control circuits including relay activation and input/output acquisition (digital and analog).
- Support testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical systems and interfaces during project execution.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including system engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure successful project delivery
Degree and Seniority:
- Master’s degree in engineering or technical disciplines (with 3 years of professional experience)
Technical skills:
- Electronic Circuit Design:
Ability to functionally design electronic circuits for low-voltage power distribution systems and signal feeding networks. - Electrical Interface Specification Interpretation:
Proficiency in reading, understanding, and applying electrical interface specifications to ensure proper integration with other systems. - Component Selection:
Capability to select appropriate electronic components and devices from commercial catalogs to enable correct interfacing between signals and PLC-based control systems (e.g., based on Beckhoff, SIEMENS, NI technologies). - PLC-Based Control Circuit Design:
Experience designing control circuits utilizing PLCs and relay-based activation systems. - Signal Acquisition Circuits:
Knowledge in designing input acquisition circuits (DI—Digital Inputs and AI—Analog Inputs) for PLCs, including handling wet and dry contact configurations. - Technical Documentation:
Ability to prepare schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and technical documentation to support design, assembly, and commissioning. - Standards and Compliance:
Familiarity with relevant electrical safety standards and regulations applicable to low-voltage distribution and signal interfacing in industrial automation. - Troubleshooting and Validation:
Skills in testing, validating, and troubleshooting power distribution and signal interfacing circuits during development and installation phases.
Additional requirements:
- Good knowledge of the English language is required, knowledge of French will be considered an asset
- Availability for business trip in European Union (including French Guyana) and worldwide, if necessary
