What you’ll do
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Energy Manager to lead the planning, analysis, and optimization of energy consumption across our telecommunications infrastructure.
This role requires deep expertise in energy markets, regulatory mechanisms, hedging strategies, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), combined with a strong understanding of telco technologies to drive forecasting and efficiency initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Energy Consumption Management:
- Monitor and analyse energy usage across all operational sites.
- Identify efficiency opportunities and implement reduction strategies.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to align energy goals with business objectives.
- Energy Market Analysis
- Track and interpret trends in electricity (spot, forward, capacity, ancillary services).
- Provide forecasts and risk assessments to support strategic decisions.
Hedging Strategy:
- Support VPC in developing hedging strategies to mitigate price volatility.
- Work with finance and procurement to align hedging with budgetary goals.
- Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs and GOs):
- Support VPC and evaluate and negotiate long-term PPAs with renewable energy providers.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and internal sustainability targets.
- Regulatory & Mechanism Insight:
- Stay informed on national and EU-level energy regulations, capacity mechanisms, and carbon pricing.
- Represent the company in industry forums and regulatory consultations.
- Support team in ISO50001 and other regulations
Who you are
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of European energy markets and regulatory mechanisms.
- Experience with financial instruments for hedging and risk management.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in energy modelling tools and data platforms.
