GENERAL OBJECTIVE
The Procurement Engineering Operations Team Lead plays a critical cross-functional leadership role, responsible for optimizing procurement operations by aligning sales, engineering, and supply chain requirements with operational excellence. This position ensures the timely and cost-effective acquisition of technical products and services while upholding high-quality standards and supporting business growth. The role reports directly to the General Manager, Procurement Engineering.
MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement procurement strategies that meet technical, commercial, and operational objectives in alignment with engineering and business needs.
- Sales Account Support: Acts as the primary point of contact for MRO Sales teams, supporting key client accounts with a focus on the timely and accurate supply of spare parts for rotating equipment.
- Team Management: Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, including procurement specialists and logistics operators. Promote best practices in sourcing, inventory, and logistics.
- Service Shop Support: Oversee day-to-day operational and safety performance of the service shop to ensure timely, compliant, and high-quality service delivery.
- Supplier Management: Identify, assess, and manage suppliers of technical materials and services. Lead contract negotiations and performance evaluations to ensure favorable terms and service levels.
- Cost Management: Monitor procurement and general operational costs, drive cost optimization initiatives, and ensure adherence to budgetary targets without compromising quality.
- Vendor Relationships: Establish and maintain strategic supplier partnerships to foster collaboration, long-term value, and issue resolution.
- Freight & Logistics Supervision: Oversee and supervise the implementation of the company’s freight policy, ensuring rational logistics choices and optimization of freight costs. Ensure alignment with project requirements and timelines.
- International Trade Compliance: Possess solid expertise or a strong working knowledge of international freight forwarding, Incoterms, and customs clearance processes to ensure timely, compliant global shipments.
- Technical Expertise: Apply engineering knowledge to evaluate technical specifications and product compliance, ensuring procurement meets functional and safety standards.
- Process Knowledge & Improvement: Demonstrate strong understanding of end-to-end sales, procurement and supply chain processes. Regularly assess process performance and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness across the procurement and logistics cycle.
- Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant industry standards, corporate policies, and safety regulations.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels to balance supply availability with cost control. Prevent overstocking and minimize working capital requirements.
- Reporting & Analysis: Produce regular performance reports, analyze procurement and sales data, and deliver actionable insights for strategic decisions.
- Risk Management: Identify procurement-related risks, such as supply chain interruptions or quality failures, and implement mitigation plans.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between Procurement, Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure alignment across the full Order-to-Remittance (OTR) cycle, including supplier and customer payment supervision.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build empathy across functions.
- Clear commercial orientation and a strong customer-centric mindset.
- Proven experience across procurement, supply chain operations, and inside sales.
- Solid understanding of the post-sales cycle, including supervision of supplier payments and customer collections.
- Good understanding of international freight forwarding, customs clearance processes, and Incoterms.
- Experience managing freight and logistics policies, including cost optimization and operational rationality.
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional team environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain management, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong proficiency in ERP systems (Microsoft Navision is a plus), procurement tools (Coupa), business intelligence platforms (Power Bii), and CRM software.
- Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required based on supplier or customer needs.
