Role: Systems Engineer – Local Government

We are currently seeking a dynamic Senior Systems Engineer – Local Government to contribute to the success of our rapidly growing business in Italy.
You would act as the key technical leader and pre-sales engineer for the Local Public Sector in the Campania and Molise regions, supporting some of Fortinet’s top customers in this strategic territory. Partnering closely with a dedicated sales representative, you will play a central role in driving solution design, customer engagement, and technical leadership in the region. The ideal location for this role is Naples, given the customer base concentration and strategic importance of the Campania region.
As a Senior Systems Engineer – Local Government, you will:
- Lead all technical aspects of the sales cycle for public sector customers in Campania and Molise, including RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs
- Design, present, and support complex cybersecurity solutions tailored to the unique needs of local government entities
- Conduct Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) in collaboration with customers, partners, and internal teams to demonstrate Fortinet’s value
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for key accounts in the territory, building long-term trust and engagement
- Provide mentoring and guidance to junior team members, contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team culture
- Stay informed on Fortinet’s evolving product portfolio, competitor offerings, and public sector security challenges
- Deliver compelling technical presentations, whiteboard sessions, and solution demonstrations to various stakeholders
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date activity records, contacts, and technical information in our CRM system (Salesforce)
- Support and enable commercial success by aligning technical strategy with business goals in one of Fortinet’s most critical regional markets
We Are Looking For:
An insightful and influential collaborator to join our team. We encourage you to apply for this position if you have the following qualities:
- Strong technical expertise in cybersecurity technologies such as encryption, firewalls, authentication, intrusion detection, antivirus, and network security
- Knowledge of routing, switching, LAN/WAN technologies, and enterprise network architectures
- Proven experience in a pre-sales engineer or systems engineering role, ideally in the public sector or regulated markets
- Demonstrated success in managing technical aspects of deals from concept to closure
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to a variety of audiences
- Experience in leading or mentoring others within a technical team
- CISSP certification or equivalent is a plus
- Based in or willing to relocate to the Naples area, with availability to travel within the Campania and Molise regions
