About the Role
MUBI is looking for a Theatrical Marketing Director, Italy to lead the strategy, planning, and execution of all theatrical marketing efforts across the Italian market. This is a pivotal senior position that will shape how MUBI releases are brought to audiences locally - building awareness, driving attendance, and growing our footprint within Italy’s unique theatrical ecosystem.
You’ll own end-to-end campaign delivery for new releases, from strategic positioning to executional excellence, in close partnership with our Global and Local Marketing, Communications, Programming, and Distribution teams. This is a rare opportunity to craft and lead the theatrical identity of MUBI in one of our key markets.
Where you’ll have impact:
Campaign ownership. You’ll lead the ideation and execution of theatrical campaigns across Italy, collaborating cross-functionally to define campaign strategy, messaging, and creative direction.
Local strategy. You’ll develop market-specific insights and positioning for each release—setting go-to-market plans in line with both global direction and local audience nuances.
Creative leadership. You’ll oversee creative localization, working closely with global marketing and creative teams to ensure that materials are optimized for the Italian market.
Exhibitor partnerships. You’ll build and maintain relationships with key exhibitors, cinema chains, and cultural institutions—ensuring the best possible exposure for our titles nationwide.
Performance tracking. You’ll define KPIs and analyse campaign performance across paid, owned, and earned channels—drawing insights to improve future campaigns.
Team and vendor leadership. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and manage external agencies, freelancers, or junior talent where appropriate, to deliver best-in-class campaigns.
Festival & event support. You’ll shape and support theatrical moments across Italy’s cultural calendar, including premieres, festival launches, and filmmaker events.
Media Buying. You’ll oversee direct buys with local media partners in helping bring awareness and drive interest towards seeing MUBI’s releases in cinemas.
What you’ll bring:
Proven experience (typically 10+ years) in theatrical film marketing, with a strong track record of leading successful campaigns in Italy.
Excellent knowledge of the Italian media landscape and theatrical market dynamics.
Deep understanding of audience segmentation and marketing strategy, with the ability to balance local market instincts with global brand consistency.
Experience working across all areas of campaign delivery - including creative development, paid media, partnerships, events, and PR.
Strong leadership skills, able to align stakeholders, guide teams, and manage external vendors or agencies.
Native-level Italian and fluent English (both written and spoken).
Passion for cinema - from contemporary international releases to arthouse classics - and a strong affinity for MUBI’s curatorial approach.
We want to make cinema accessible to everyone. We believe people from different backgrounds bring different ideas that foster innovation and engagement, allowing us to attract great people to develop the best experience for our users.
