Program Manager- Data Center Team
Location: Catania, Italy
The Group
The Data Center Business Unit develops solutions for data center infrastructure, power delivery, power control, and high voltage power and protection
The Position
The Data Center Business Unit is seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead, direct, and oversee multiple concurrent silicon design projects in support of customer programs in the Data Center market. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the efforts and communications between a number of geographically distributed teams and customers; monitoring the individual projects through their Development Lifecycles while meeting customer goals.
Requirements/Responsibilities
- Work closely with functional stakeholders such as Marketing, Engineering, and Manufacturing to develop a clear definition for the program that meets customer requirements and internal company goals.
- Work closely with business teams to develop any necessary contractual material (SOW, Quality requirements, etc) in support of program.
- Develop the execution plan for the program. This includes working with individual Project Managers and functional leadership to build a schedule, staffing plan, risk analysis and mitigation plan, and budget in support of program goals.
- Oversee the successful execution of the plan:
- Manage the program bounding box; schedule, scope, budget and staffing, and additionally full factory cost (FFC) to ensure individual projects stay on track and within budgetary commitments.
- Continually evaluate program risks and take appropriate action to mitigate.
- Work closely with Project Managers and functional team leads to ensure program deliverables and dependencies are being met.
- Coordinate the day-to-day program activities, priorities, meetings and communications ensuring alignment across all projects or cross functional teams while optimizing performance at a program level.
- Serve as the focal point for program communications to senior management and the customer. Compile regular program status for all stakeholders and effectively escalate critical issues and risks as necessary.
- Ensure the program is developed in compliance with specified internal, customer or industry standards, processes and procedures.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by ensuring post-release lessons learned activities for the program are completed
- Serve as a champion for advancing Project Management best practices and new methodology.
- Mentor (and potentially manage) Project Managers, providing guidance and leadership as needed
- Manage program change requests which may fundamentally impact the schedule and/or cost of the program.
- Track in PLE the performance of the program to key milestones.
- Ensure post-release review (AAR) of the program is completed as required.
- Work directly and closely with key customers, scheduling and chairing regular meetings and delivering program updates.
- Travel to customer sites for reviews as required.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, dynamic, meticulous, prepared to take the initiative, and also exhibit the following skills/credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Masters or MBA a plus, but not required)
- A minimum of 10 years industry experience, preferably with some background in silicon development and full hardware, software, and mechanical systems design.
- Have 5+ years’ experience in an Engineering Project/Program Manager role working with large multinational companies which involved direct customer interaction
- PMP or other accreditation and experience with the project management body of knowledge (PMBOK) a plus.
- Proven success in leading large cross functional teams through influence
- Experience with multi-site, multi-geographical development is desired.
- Strong planning and organizations skills; must be able to set and manage priorities, adapt to change, track progress of activities, issues, risks, and deliverables to closure through close coordination with multiple groups.
- A problem solver who is able to quickly assess situations, collect relevant information or input from subject matter experts and drive manageable solutions.
- Able to act decisively and make clear timely decisions which are in the best interests of the program.
- Be creative and innovative. Demonstrate a willingness to explore new options to bridge program challenges or improve processes.
- Willingness to take the big picture view; demonstrate an ability to identify and address challenges across organizational, functional, and project boundaries.
- A nature of staying focused on solutions and ability to remain positive even under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage the detail to the target audience up, down, across, and out of the organization.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, foster teamwork and bridge differences to achieve the program goals.
- A leader who can set direction for project teams and mentor more junior members of the PM community and drive a culture of continuous improvement
- Strong Knowledge of MS Office Tools.
