Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
We’re looking for a highly skilled Regional Energy Manager to join our team in Naples, Italy, supporting the operational objectives of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems across Djibouti, Bahrain, Spain, Crete, Romania, and Poland.
Occasional travel is required based on the project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement a robust energy management program in compliance with U.S. and host nation laws and regulations.
- Support NAVFAC energy managers in achieving energy goals and sustainability targets.
- Provide design review and technical support for energy-related facility maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
- Manage and support energy programs such as EPSP, ESPC, ERCIP, PPA, EVSE, 2912, FRCS, Smart Grid, microgrids, storage, and renewable energy initiatives.
- Conduct facility audits and document Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs).
- Track and manage projects using platforms like IEPS and PMM.
- Promote and sustain energy and water conservation initiatives and awareness programs.
- Analyze utility consumption data to identify inefficiencies and recommend cost-saving strategies.
- Prepare energy audit packages, economic analyses, and support alternative financing projects.
- Enhance operations and maintenance (O&M) efficiency and adopt emerging technologies.
- Verify data accuracy and optimize the use of natural gas, electricity, solar, geothermal, water, wastewater, wind, and other utilities.
- Prepare reports and support energy award nominations.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications to be successful in the role:
- Bachelor degree in engineering or any related field of study
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Energy Manager in the Department of Defense (DoD) or similar government facilities, essential
- Strong understanding of energy resilience, reliability, and efficiency principles.
- Ability to interpret technical engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience in facility energy audits, consumption monitoring, and reporting within budget and schedule.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Navy energy platforms such as IEPs, DUERs, and NSGEMs.
- Physically able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including active construction sites.
