At Grupo Planeta, we are looking for a for a Cost Control Specialist - Temporary Contract motivated and detail-oriented candidate to join our Academic Department in the Rome Business School.
The candidate will work closely with a range of stakeholders, including the administrative team, supporting key activities related to cost monitoring and planning of academic activities. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic and international environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control costs of the academic department, including teaching sessions, extra-curricular activities and event expenses;
- Monthly review of cost forecasts;
- Collaborate closely with senior administrators and event coordinators to gather detailed information on incurred costs, ensuring accurate allocation;
- Analyze variances between actual costs and budgeted amounts, identifying causes and reporting findings to management;
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to support cost optimization and budget adherence;
- Control and approval of invoices from suppliers
- Reconciliation of credit card payments
- Placing orders from suppliers if and where needed
- Create a high-level planning of academic teaching activities and check for classroom occupancy
- Set up the budget for the department for the following year
- Create cost simulations as part of the due diligence process of departmental projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance;
- Experience in cost control or management accounting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify deviations.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with multiple departments.
- Detail-oriented;
- Proficiency with Excel.
- Ability to work in team and independently and manage multiple priorities.
