That’s where you come in! Join our global team and help us make great cinema accessible to everyone, everywhere.
About the role
We’re looking for a Head of Finance to join our newly established MUBI Italia office in Rome. As the first Finance hire in the region, you'll be responsible for building local finance operations from the ground up. You’ll lead accounting, tax, planning, and compliance activity, while also acting as a strategic partner to the local Managing Director in Rome and wider business.
You’ll report to our Director of Accounting and Reporting in London, working closely with both the global team and Rome-based colleagues. From supporting theatrical releases to rolling out our finance systems in Italy, this is a unique opportunity to shape the financial foundation of a growing business at the heart of cinema culture.
What You’ll Do
Manage local accounting processes and prepare monthly reports and annual statutory accounts in line with Italian regulations.
Coordinate day-to-day finance operations — including payables, receivables, payroll, and treasury — with support from the team and local external partners.
Partner with the MD to support planning and budgeting for theatrical releases, funding applications, and wider operations.
Lead the Italian budget and forecast process, and deliver clear monthly variance analysis.
Own tax compliance and oversee relationships with consultants, auditors, and local authorities.
Ensure smooth day-to-day operations and compliance with local regulations.
Represent MUBI Italia in finance-related discussions with auditors, advisors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
Lead the implementation and localisation of NetSuite in Italy, in line with global system strategy.
What You’ll Bring
A degree in Economics, Finance or a recognised accountancy qualification (e.g. CPA, ACA/ACCA/CIMA, Dottore Commercialista).
7+ years of finance experience, ideally in international environments — media, entertainment, or distribution experience is a bonus.
Strong knowledge of Italian accounting and tax regulations, and the confidence to improve or challenge processes when needed.
Fluency in English (written and spoken) — daily collaboration with UK and US teams is part of the job.
Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills — ideally with experience in Power Query, BigQuery, array formulas, or 3-statement modelling.
Experience with NetSuite is a bonus.
If you’re excited to shape the future of Finance in a company that champions great cinema — we’d love to hear from you.
We want to make cinema accessible to everyone. We believe people from different backgrounds bring different ideas that foster innovation and engagement, allowing us to attract great people to develop the best experience for our users.
