NXP Semiconductors, a global leader in automotive and electrification solutions, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Analog IC Designer to join our R&D center in Milan. In this senior role, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of high-performance analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for next-generation automotive applications, with a strong focus on electrification systems (EV/HEV, battery management, power conversion).
You will play a key role in architecture definition, strategic technical contributions, and mentoring junior designers.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the design and simulation of analog and mixed-signal blocks such as LDOs, bandgap references, amplifiers, ADCs, DACs, oscillators, charge pumps, and DC/DC converters.
- Drive top-level integration and supervise layout implementation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including digital design, layout, verification, test, and product engineering.
- Define system architecture and develop specifications for complex analog and mixed-signal circuits.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior designers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Support silicon validation, characterization, and debugging, ensuring designs meet performance, power, area, and reliability targets.
- Contribute to the strategic technical direction and product roadmap for electrification solutions.
Your Profile
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in analog/mixed-signal IC design.
- Strong expertise in CMOS analog design and deep understanding of semiconductor device physics.
- Proficiency with EDA tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, etc.) , scripting (Python, SKILL) and modelling (Matlab).
- Experience with the full design flow: from specification to silicon validation.
- Proven track record of technical leadership and strategic contributions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in automotive or power management applications.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
- Knowledge of advanced process technologies (e.g., BCD, SOI, HV CMOS).
- Experience with circuits for battery management systems (BMS), DC-DC converters, gate drivers.
