We are now looking for a
Project Engineer, Customer Delivery
to join our team working for a better future. The position is permanent, and the preferred location is in Trieste - Italy, but also Drunen - the Netherlands and Finland are possible locations.
What you will be doing
We are looking for an open-minded Project Engineer with strong technical background and knowledge of Wartsila products with specific reference, but not limited, to engine products. Capability to see and well understand the big picture and how products and components are interacting with each other is of key importance.
Ideal candidate shall have a structured and systematic way of working, with strong problem solving and communication skills. Good team working skills, especially in remote team conditions, is essential. He or she should own the capability to work under stress, think beyond the next step and always stay committed and focused on project targets. Experience in Project Management processes and knowledge areas is seen as a strong advantage.
In this position, you will be part of an experienced project team to execute demanding projects in challenging environments. This role will offer you experience in international business and opportunities for professional growth in an exciting field of industry.
As Project Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Safeguard that the project related works are executed according to contract specifications and design directives. To plan the works with the total cost and customer needs in focus.
- Provide technical support to customer in project execution stage and in pre-project stage when requested.
- Participate in the process of preparing the Contract for execution.
- Participate according to Gate Model as required.
- Manage (plan, steer, follow-up, analyse and report) contracted projects in close co-operation with the project team according to project execution plans.
- Prepare and provide the Customer with project specific documentation (e.g. IPI, project schedules etc.).
- Maintain the daily contacts with the Customer in close co-operation with the Project Manager.
- If appointed, act as the Integration Engineer in projects, i.e manage and coordinate the engineering integration and information flow between the different BL's products.
- Responsible for relevant milestones and gates as specified in gate model.
- Manage internal and external purchase orders
- Monitor and alarm the risks foreseen in the contracted projects.
- Co-operate with and report to the Project Manager.
- Participate in customer negotiations when needed. Maintain good customer relationships.
- Manage non-conformity claims according to given process.
- Seek opportunities for Variation Orders.
To be successful in this role we expect you to have:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in engineering, preferably mechanical, electrical, industrial management, or shipbuilding.
- Good knowledge of Wärtsilä technology, solutions, and products
- 1-3 years working experience
- Experience of project work in international business and proven communication skills
- Good negotiation skills
- Drives, defines, and cascades strategy to his/her business level
- Looks for opportunities to improve the way of working. Act as a role model for desired change
- Willingness to travel
- Fluency in English
In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10% of your working time, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
