The Primary Pack, Devices & Visual Inspection Lead is a strategic leadership role which provides comprehensive technical leadership and expertise in visual inspection, encompassing technical standards current manufacturing processes, new product introductions, and leading the strategy for adoption of innovative technology platforms. This role includes a critical focus on leading the technical definition of primary pack and device technologies in in line with the strategy and building these technical capabilities within the MSAT organisation. As a member of the MSAT Leadership team this leader will foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the primary pack, devices and visual inspection team as well as the broader MSAT organisation.

In this role, you will…
Technical Leadership and Expertise: Provide comprehensive technical leadership and expertise in visual inspection, primary packaging for pharmaceuticals, and device technologies, ensuring adherence to the highest technical standards and current manufacturing processes. Act as a technical advisor, demonstrating leadership through project management and leading a small team.
Strategy Development and Innovation: Lead the strategy for the adoption of innovative technology platforms and vision system strategies for primary packaging inspection, ensuring alignment with the organisation's strategic vision. Drive a culture of innovation within the team, encouraging the exploration and implementation of new technologies and methodologies.
New Product Introductions and Technical Development: Oversee the technical aspects of new product introductions and technology transfers, ensuring seamless integration into existing processes and systems. Lead the technical development and optimisation of visual inspection devices and primary packaging technologies, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
Data Analytics and problem solving to support decision making: Lead initiatives focused on data trending for defects, analysing data to identify patterns and root causes of defects in visual inspection. Build capability to implement AI/ML solutions for automated visual inspection, leveraging data analysis to enhance product quality and process efficiency. Use analytical thinking to solve complex problems and increase the speed and quality of decisions based on data analysis.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication: Foster strong collaboration within the MSAT Leadership team, Global Functions, and different GSK sites, ensuring effective communication and teamwork. Support new product introductions and technology transfers, communicating a clear vision and strategy to gain buy-in from stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement and Risk Management: Lead initiatives focused on continuous improvement, optimising processes, and enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of visual inspection, primary packaging, and device technology activities. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, taking calculated risks to achieve ambitious goals and exceed performance expectations.
Basic Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
BSc in Scientific or Engineering discipline
Solid experience in Manufacturing/Filling/Packaging in the Pharmaceutical/FMCG or other regulated industry
Proven capability to lead teams, both line and matrix, in a Technical role
Comprehensive knowledge of external regulatory requirements (AIFA, MHRA, FDA), and internal/external quality requirements
In depth knowledge and understanding of product dose forms and their manufacturing processes
Fluency in English with willingness to learn Italian language
